About who needs care: She was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's, she gets up around 10 or 10:30am, so the person would ideally come around 9:45 or 10am, they would help her with getting the TV turned on, taking her medication, preparing and eating something for brunch, making her tea, and getting her comfortable. She would likely need help putting her brunch dishes in the sink and getting settled watching TV (she really doesn't do much else). Someone would need to make sure she takes her noon pills and make sure she is drinking enough beverages and using her walker (she is somewhat resistant to eating, using her walker and actually being helped doing most things). Another small meal/snack should be eaten around 1 or 2 p.m. (she is supposed to take an appetite stimulant in the morning, so she should be hungry). I would be getting home by 4 p.m. About the care needs: Someone who isn't afraid to be firm, but uses humor and kindness to deal with stubbornness. Should be able to deal with stubborn elders with dementia! Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
