About who needs care: My mother has early stages of Alzheimers. She is very independent (doesn't need assistance showering, getting dressed, using the bathroom, etc), but can no longer drive herself. She loves to get outside and go for walks, garden, hike, shop, read books, go to the library, etc. we are looking for someone to come to her home and pick her up and take her on some outings a few days a week for a few hours. My mom loves to chat (in English and Spanish) and would love to have someone who she can socialize with as well as get out of the house and get some fresh air. Ideally if someone could come 2 days a week from 12-4 that would be great. Depending on how it goes we might want to expand to 3 days a week. About the care needs: If someone also enjoys doing these activities and being outside that is a plus! We need someone who is patient and attentive and loves to chat! They would need to watch my mother and supervise her throughout the day. While she does not need assistance doing any daily tasks, she cannot be left on her own. For example, If you are out in public someone will need to go with her when she does do the bathroom to ensure she doesn't get lost. She will need someone with her during her walks to ensure she does not wander off and get lost. We would love someone who is creative and can mix up the weekly activities so she isn't doing the same thing everyday.
