About who needs care: My 96-year-old mom wants to live and die at home. Our family is currently providing a team of 24/7 caregivers (8-hr shifts) in her home, combined with hospice visits. We're wondering if getting one full-time live-in caregiver might be better, provide continuity, as her dementia, mental health and mobility issues get worse. She can still walk with assistance, but needs a one-person assist to get up from the chair she spends most of her time in. She is not bed-ridden at this point. About the care needs: Someone who has experience working with patients with dementia. My mom has a very worried and increasingly confused mind now. She does best with caregivers who are calm and kind with that, understand to not take it personally, and if possible can have a sense of humor. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
