About who needs care: She is a 98-year-old woman born in China and lived much of her life in Burma. She recently traveled to China and has become reconditioned from high altitude sickness and is unable to walk by herself. Before the trip she was independently walking and would sometimes take the bus and hang out at the mall. In an ideal day she would have someone help her with activities of daily life like eating breakfast lunch dinner, going to the bathroom, helping her walk, and hygiene management. About the care needs: Someone who is kind and patient. She moves very slowly and has pain with movement. Someone who is willing to work with her at her pace and understand where she is at in this stage of life. Skills needed included understanding of proper body mechanics and someone who is physically strong. They all will need to know how to help with feeding, hygiene/ toileting, lifting/transferring. Interests include Taiwanese soap operas. Anyone who is kind and open to having conversation and connecting with her would be appreciated. Her morale is very low, so just having someone to care for her and talk with her during the day about anything would help so much. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
