About who needs care: My father has a diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinsonism. He lives alone across the street from us, but my husband and I work full time, and he needs someone to help with getting started each morning, helping with small projects, keeping him occupied, fall prevention and just in general making sure he is doing everything he needs to be doing (making sure he takes his meds, puts on his compression socks, drinks enough water, cooking & cleaning as needed, transportation to stores and activities) as well as companionship and minimizing fall and health risks on his bad days (can be very dizzy, nauseous and/or constipated with pain) Currently his dementia is mainly affecting his short term memory, and Parkinsonism isn't too bad, some mild shaking and consistent weakness. Main goal is to find someone who my father gets along with and enjoys having around. About the care needs: Type of personality that would be a good fit is someone who can keep themselves busy, positive outlook, encouraging and who can talk about subjects such as sports, history, and news. My father can be quiet, introverted and avoidant, at times can be depressed and anxious, and just needs someone who can help him find some good moments in the day, encourage him and also know when to give him his space and let him be quiet. Helping him remember things, talk about how he's feeling and provide comfort and care when needed. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
