About who needs care: Mom is returning from the hospital after a fall. She is an amputee and was independently living at home and mobile in her wheelchair and walker. She is now deconditioned and needs to gain strength to be independent again. She will come home with oxygen to be used as needed. She will likely have OT and PT. She enjoys old Mario Nintendo games from the 80s and 90s and plays games on the computer. Her ideal day starts between 6 and 8. Sometimes she wakes up and listens to the radio and listen to the radio and sleep again. If she wakes at night she sleeps until 8. She gets up and dresses and then goes to the kitchen for breakfast and reading the paper. Then she goes to the computer for about an hour and then has second breakfast. Then she plays Nintendo. Then she empties the potty from the night before. Then she has a coke and two snickers, Then she loads the dishwasher. If it is a nice day she goes out into the yard. Meals on wheels arrives around 11:30 a.m. W-F. Lunch around 2 p.m. Then watch TV at 3 p.m. for the news. Then get the mail. Take BP medicine, take care of bills. Finish paper. Supper around 6pm-6:15. Then watch TV for the evening and then prepare for bed around 9:30ish and asleep by 10:30. About the care needs: Mom does not want to chat a lot and she does not want her routine interrupted. Mom is able to transfer, she just needs spotting and some support with house chores until she is more independent. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
