Ongoing Part Time Female Caregiver Needed For My Mother

Preference: Living near Arcadia/Monrovia/Pasadena area is a preference Being within 15 miles is a preference Patient: Woman Age: 71 Weight: 118 Condition: Neurological Degenerative Condition - Multiple Systems Atrophy Location: Arcadia, CA Pay: $18 - $22 Pay will be based on credentials and experience Contact: Daughter - Lena About the patient: My mother has a neurological degenerative condition called multiple systems atrophy. Her mind is fully there, but her body does not function normally. She cannot walk and is in a wheelchair. She also has difficulty talking and swallowing. She needs to be fully transferred whenever she is moved. When she is being fully transferred, there will be no absolutely no assistance from her. She does not stand or bear weight and cannot assist in the transfer at all. It is a full transfer. The transfer will be a horizontal swing in a seated position with a gait belt or by holding her waist or pants. You will be trained by her caregiver who has cared for her for the last 6 years confidently and comfortably. ***IF YOU ARE NOT CONFIDENT AND COMFORTABLE WITH A FULL TRANSFER WITH NO ASSISTANCE FROM HER, PLEASE DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS JOB*** Duties and Responsibilities: Full transfer any time she is transported out of bed Full transfer to the bathroom. She will need to be transferred from her bed to her wheelchair and from her wheelchair to her toilet with no assistance from her Assist her in the bathroom Administer her prescribed medication Operate her electric wheelchair Assist her with personal care and hygiene Dress her Assist her with physical therapy exercises Plan and prepare her meals Feed her Take her on a daily walk in her wheelchair outside Perform light housekeeping duties Be pleasant and supportive Provide companionship Report any unusual incidents Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency Characteristics: Empathy, experience, self-sufficient, competent, professional, compassionate, confident, easy going, patient, friendly, positive, takes initiative, clean, organized, responsible, committed, consistent, reliable, excellent communication skills are characteristics that are needed for this job.
