About who needs care: 2 years post-stroke Mostly non-verbal, but understands others. Can say yes/no, and point to things to communicate. Paralyzed on right side and needs to use sit-to-stand lift for transfers. Needs meals prepared, help with eating, bathroom (wears diapers, but is on a toileting schedule and uses a Pure Wick system over night), showering/grooming, and accompanying to therapy appointments (we use med transport). We have 24/7 in home care currently and we do 24 hour shifts from 7 a.m. - 7 a.m. We need someone to occasionally fill in for our regular caregivers. About the care needs: We want someone who is comfortable talking and joking with her even when she can't respond verbally. Need someone with a warm and loving personality who is flexible and takes initiative when needed. Need to be comfortable using a lift (we can train you) and a Pure Wick catheter system at night. We expect that you'll sleep overnight any only need to get up once to check and make sure the urine output on the Pure Wick is working, otherwise you're really just there at night in case of an emergency. We have a video monitor you can keep in your bedroom so you can hear if she needs help. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
