About who needs care: My mother is a former English professor and tennis player who loves to read, tell stories, play cards, and watch professional tennis and basketball. She has many underlying conditions such as edema, leukemia, hearing loss, and shes very susceptible to UTIs. Her husband, John, lives with her, and I (daughter) stay nights with them to help the caregiver get her up and down using a Homer lift. She An ideal day would consist of breakfast at 7, reading a book, second breakfast, sponge bath, getting dressed, being pushed around the pond, watching tv, lunch, taking a nap, reading, watching tv, supper, playing cards, and going to bed. s in a wheelchair and requires a two person assist. About the care needs: Mother doesnt like to be touched or rubbed on unless she specifically asks for it (applying rub on her knees). She likes someone who smiles often and listens to her stories. She does not hear well (her hearing aides are useless but refuses to get new ones), so the person needs to be patient and perhaps write things out. The person needs to be strong enough to assist her with the help of her husband and/or me to the bathroom and in and out of bed. I live only 5 minutes away and am available to assist all but 4 hours a day. Her hobbies include reading, watching tennis and basketball, and playing cards. It would be best if we could have two caregivers, one at night and one during the day. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
