About who needs care: Buddy has dementia and Parkinson disease. He has gotten to where he can no longer walk. He often tries to walk and has had multiple falls. None of our family can be there with him as much as he needs. When we are there, he is easily redirectable. He was a cowboy and ran a sale barn for the majority of his life. He is very kind, sweet, and respectful. He needs help dressing, eating, toileting, transferring, and to get out of the house once in a while to the sale barn he used to run. About the care needs: Since I am a CNA myself, I know what it takes to be a good caregiver. I have worked in nursing homes and I currently work at the Little Rock VA hospital caring for veterans. First and foremost, you need to have patience. Dealing with a person with dementia is not for the weak hearted. You will need to be versed in dealing with dementia and Alzheimer's. Next, you will need compassion. My grandfather is a sweet, southern, respectful, and simple man. He deserves kindness. He will need assistance dressing, eating, toileting and transferring. Occasionally take him to the sale barn in Beebe where he only lives 10 min away from. Thank you so very much. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
