About who needs care: I'm a social worker and I am exploring options for a client. He has an intellectual disability and a severe trauma history. Due to being impoverished and abandoned by his parents, he spent much of both his childhood and adulthood incarcerated for non-violent property crimes. His intellectual limitations make it impossible for him to participate in programs for people released from prison and we are working to secure him independent housing with a caregiver who can visit him daily to assist with activities of daily living. About the care needs: We are looking for someone who has experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities. Our client also has medical concerns (diabetes, hypertension) that he needs help managing through improved diet and self-care. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
