About who needs care: Dad has Alzheimer's, he's forgetful, but still able to do his own personal care. He's still in pretty good physical shape, likes to go for walks around the grounds where he and my Mom live. He's interested in current events, can still do some board games, technology things are a struggle. He's kind of a low key guy, so somebody friendly, but not too intense would be about right. If he's interested, someone to take him to close by Senior Centers for a couple of hours so Mom could get some respite would be about right. He likes to keep busy and feel useful, hoping that's something Senior Centers could help with. There's 3 adult kids that live in Milwaukee, one on the East Coast-so one or more of us is in touch almost daily. Light housekeeping would also help Mom out. About the care needs: Like I mentioned earlier, someone friendly but not too intense. Not any specialized skills, be a good listener and not mind hearing the same stories repeated. Someone who's interested in current events, books, etc.-that part of Dad hasn't changed yet. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
