About who needs care: I am the brother-in-law to the patient Ellen . She lives in a rented house in Sequim and has developed dementia to the point that she needs someone two days a week to assist her with her medications. I am her POA for healthcare decisions. My brother lives apart from Ellen, but assists Ellen with financial matters. Ellen knows I'm looking for a reliable person to come to the house a few days a week for a few hours each day. For now, no housekeeping or personal services are needed. She still drives, but I believe she should stop driving for safety reasons. About the care needs: The caregiver should be friendly, reliable and understanding towards people with dementia. Ellen does know she has dementia and understands it's getting worse. A 40+ experienced female caregiver would be preferred. Ellen will be 74 in June. Ellen does see a therapist and does have a neurologist she sees regularly. Ellen is very friendly and kind, but gets confused easily on dealing with many daily issues. Ellen loves the beach and walks along the beach.
