About who needs care: I am paraplegic. T10 - about the navel. Below that I can not consciously control. I am deteriorating in what I can do. My roommate is younger, but she works 60 hours a week and I need to be in charge of my house and my needs. Primarily the place is filthy. I've lost the ability to deal with it well and my roommate brings in $, but is too busy and not inclined to take care of the place though she happily respond to my needs. Frankly, the place is filthy. My hobbies are boating, gardening, playing bridge at the local duplicate club and playing at more competitive events in Western Washington. I've spent 7 weeks in the hospital this spring and summer. I am recovering from a pressure wound that ended up with plastic surgery. Getting healthier and stronger, but I would say my ideal day would be getting back to doing what I enjoy, reducing the pain and enjoying my activities. I still need to gain strength to get back to where I was just a year ago About the care needs: My caregiver would be one whose primary function would be to help take care of the place. If it works out, he or she could also be involved with helping me get up and with some of my activities around here when Helen is drawn into her business meetings. Helen, is always willing to help but she can get stuck in meetings with regularity, She works for the attorney general's office but is home 3 of those 5 days. Then she is away, Monday and Wednesday evenings and Friday afternoons with her second job. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
