About who needs care: Carri has Parkinson's and struggles in the day to day to do regular household upkeep and errands. She uses a walker to get around the house and the grocery store. She needs to be reminded to take her medication every two hours. And she also needs to be reminded to eat. Her day starts around 9 a.m. and she takes some time to get ready. Breakfast is simple, usually a piece of toast with butter. She loves to go shopping! That is her favorite hobby but finances don't always align with her splurging habits. So all things in moderation (; During this time between breakfast and lunch, a tidying up of the house will be necessary such as putting dishes away and organizing anything that is out of place, laundry etc. Lunchtime, she needs to be kept at the table to finish her meal otherwise she will get distracted and walk away forgetting about her food. Her meals are simple and consist mostly of steamed veggies and rice or broth. She is allowed to have some protein but only in the evenings because it interferes with her medications. Usually after lunch is when any errands can be done but only a couple times a week. Otherwise, this is hangout time! You can watch a movie together, you can bake together or go for a walk around the neighborhood etc. About the care needs: Carri's ideal caregiver would be patient and have a kind demeanor with great bedside manner. No specialized skills are necessary but maturity and active listening skills would be helpful. Carri will love to get to know anyone especially if they lead an interesting life. She doesn't get out much at all but loves to learn about the world and the people around her.
