About who needs care: Father is wheelchair bound and unable to assist much if any in transfers. He is also incontinent for both urine and fecal. He is unable to care for himself without assistance. My parents have a transport chair for him not a typical wheelchair so it is reliant upon someone else pushing him in it. He has a very rare genetic disease and is cognitively impaired. It is also very difficult to understand him as he doesn't have a lot of diction. My mother also lives with him, but she does not need much support. She recently had a health event, and is OK, but is unable to continue to care for him 24/7. His daily life is very basic. Needs help getting up in the morning, toileting, bathing, general hygiene, getting dressed, meals prepared for him, assistance handling medications, and being moved around the house for these activities. He likes word find books, sitcoms, and entertaining but easy-to-follow tv shows. He used to be an engineer for Boeing. About the care needs: Ability to move him between bed, transport chair, toilet, kitchen seating and living room electric lift chair. He has some leg strength to help but not a lot. If they can engage him in conversation that would be lovely. Someone who is very patient as he is very slow. Someone who understands that mom needs some support herself and cannot provide care for him. Someone kind. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
