About who needs care: Currently blind, but treatment may restore some vision. Uses metal frame walker, pretty good mobility, some osteoporosis concerns. Mentally all there but under great stress recently, so somewhat tetchy about changes to her home (e. g. hates when stuff moves from where she expects it to be), etc; it's HER house. Very outgoing, will talk with anyone, will accept any decent person from anywhere, mostly sunny disposition. Yoshiko is Japanese-American, very good English (has lived in USA 60 years), wants both English and Japanese TV, loves Japanese food and would want some capability to have Japanese food prepared in home a few times a week. Interested in News around the world, conversation with friends & family, robot(!) competitions on TV, kids, the Sister City relationship with a Japanese city that she co-founded. I think her ideal day is pretty flexible. Loves drop-in visitors, hairdos and manicures with friends. Lives on 2. 5 acres, with Mount Baker view and fruit trees etc, though she can no longer directly appreciate/maintain those things (vision, physical frailties) About the care needs: Type: Someone who respects her home and possessions, who is conversable but also willing to work decently hard on their tasks, probably female for personal care needs, is patient when she's talkative (she's usually so), good memory and organization for tasks Skills: can cook or learn to cook some not too complicated Japanese foods. Ability to understand and apply prescriptions reliably. Possibility of combining some management of "Team Yoshiko" (there are a number of us, and we need to have some kind of organization and issue resolution) with some care duties. Interests: she's got lots of loving friends to enjoy being with, and a new carer could be interested in anything and Yoshiko would be pleased to interact with them. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
