About who needs care: Hello there,
I am looking to get some information on care, and possible live-in for my Mother-In-Law who is suffering from dementia. She needs help with showering, and going to the bathroom, getting dressed and food made. She likes to go on walks and drives. She is very kind for the most part, struggles with the bathroom issues a bit and doesn't sometimes understand why people are trying to help her. My husband and I are taking care of her full-time in her home currently but it cant go on with us being the caregivers forever. Barbara wakes up around 730-8 a.m. and is brought into the bathroom to go potty and then into the shower. I help her with her shower. She is usually good with that. She doesn't not like getting her undershirt on after when we are getting dressed, but as soon as its on, she is back to all smiles again. She is in diapers although most of the time can make it to the bathroom on-time. After she is dressed her breakfast is made and she will watch her normal morning shows while eating. this usually ends about 930-10 a.m. Then the rest of the day is spent either taking her for walks, or drives, running errands, keeping her busy. She rests throughout the day quite a bit also. Lunch is around 1230-1. We also have her partner who is 83 years old and suffering from Parkinson's living with us also. He can take care of himself though. Around 430-5 dinner is being made and about 630 we are usually cleaning up and she is very tired at this point. We try to keep her awake until at least 7 p.m. At night she can wake up and use the toilet on her own without any help, shockingly. She goes back into bed and Bill covers her back up and we start all over the next day.
Thank you so much,
Sincerely ,
Shayna.
