About who needs care: My husband Phil is 68 and has ALS. He is extremely thin and weak but can still walk short distances and go to the bathroom himself. His hands are the most affected and he needs help with most activities. He still likes to sit on a room with his artwork and occasionally paints if the paint is squeezed out for him. He needs meals prepped for him and someone to be with him as he eats. That's what I want help with: making breakfast and/or lunch, doing dishes and cleaning the kitchen after food prep, once a week shaving, once a week changing sheets on the bed. Vacuuming the downstairs of our house where we are living now. Phil needs to rest often with a breathing machine/ mask. He can tell you when it's rest time, but his day is basically up and down (on the first floor of our house) between meals, sitting and resting. About the care needs: Phil is a quiet, bookish person who likes to watch videos about history but might like to be read to. His primary interest in life has been painting, so someone with an interest in art would be nice. Not sure what personality would be good, but a flexible, quiet, non-domineering person would be good. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
