About who needs care: He has COPD and takes breathing treatments. The COPD is stage four and he has flare ups at night or in the early morning which result in him calling the ambulance and going to the hospital. If someone was there to give him his treatments and monitor him especially at night that would be helpful. Also, he has arthritis and is somewhat unsteady and is fearful of falling and not being able to get back up. About the care needs: Someone who is matter of fact and easy going (he can be difficult), doesn't take offense easily (he doesn't insult people but can be impatient and brusque) but is straightforward in communicating with him. He likes woodworking and is a master woodworker having restored antique furniture by hand for many years. He is retired Navy so likes talking about military history. Enjoys watching westerns and reading. He is also Christian (Baptist) and is very active in his church having taught Sunday School for adults for decades. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
