About who needs care: I have no underlying physical conditions. I am having knee replacement surgery on May 19th. I will require care giver assistance for a temporary period between May, 21st thru June 1st, perhaps extending out to June 4th, while I recover from surgery. I will require my care giver to pick me up when I am discharged from the hospital. I will have a nurse/physical therapist come to my home once per day who will assist with my physical therapy and surgical wound care. I will need my caregiver to assist with my cat and light meal prep and mobility assistance. I will require assistance in the morning from 7 a.m. - 11 a.m. and in the evening, from 5 p.m. - 8/9 p.m. My hobbies are reading, writing, hiking and camping. My ideal day would be to have my home care giver arrive in the morning at 7am, feed my cat and clean the litter box. Assist me to the bathroom, but toilet care will not be needed. Mobility assistance getting into the shower and prepare a light breakfast. My care giver would return at 5 p.m. to feed my cat and assist to the bathroom/mobility and light dinner prep. My caregiver would just hang out with me and watch TV, chat etc during the times I do not need assistance. About the care needs: I am a white male, age 64. Ideally, I would like a person who is kind, compassionate and open minded, as I am. I would prefer someone who is accepting of people who are different from themselves, i. e. race, ethnicity, gender etc. I would enjoy the company of someone who is 'well read', but that is not a deal breaker. As long as they can hold a short conversation on different topics. I would prefer someone who is physically capable to assist in my mobility. I expect to be able to manage much on my own, but I have never had knee surgery before and I do not know my capabilities post surgery. It would be nice if my care giver enjoyed reading, but again, this is not a necessity. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, and mobility assistance.
