About who needs care: My spouse is in early stages of ALS. She requires a power chair for mobility and transfer assistance for toileting. She also requires bathing assistance. She is actively involved with her church and bible study ministry. Her interests revolve around family and friends. An ideal day involves a lot of interaction with friends and family in person, on-line or by phone. About the care needs: An ideal personality would be friendly, a good listener and someone who is eager to visit but not dominate the conversation. At this time, skill needs are limited to helping with transfers; however, over time this will evolve into assistance by Hoyer lift for transfers. This skill can be trained. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
