About who needs care: I am looking for 2 people to split the work hours of 8am-7:30pm Monday through Friday. My sister, Cynthia, is a 50 year old woman who is special needs. She suffers from traumatic brain injury from an accidental hanging at the age of 6 which has brought on mental illnesses (schizophrenia, bi polar depression). She loves to color, paint, make bracelets, necklaces, and loves to shop and goes to see a personal trainer at the gym twice a week. She is the most giving person you will ever meet and never meets a stranger so you will find that out when you take her out for her outings. She is semi-ambulatory so she can walk with assistance from one room to the next but when she is out in town, will require her wheelchair. Her injury has left some partial issues with the left side of her body so this is why she requires assistance with walking. The side effects of her meds also play a role in her mobility as well. She needs assistance with dressing, using the bathroom, cleaning herself, showering, preparing her meals, placing her meds in front of her, getting her toothbrush ready for her, etc. The people who are hired will also need to assist in getting Cynthia to her appointments as I cannot always get her appointments scheduled during my days off. She has more good days than bad but during her bad moments, her behavior therapist suggest that we leave her alone to let her calm down and we can tell when she is going to have a bad day right when she is up in the morning so we usually have little to no outings in town to prevent episodes of crying in public. Consistency and routine is key for Cynthia so I will list her daily schedule below. I really need someone who is patient and reliable. I am usually home by 7p and will take over for her night care. Her showering has become a bit tricky due to a recent fall so she has become scared of falling while in her shower chair so it has taken myself and her current caretaker to shower her or my son and myself. If I can get the 2nd shift person to help me give her a shower before they leave, that will be great as I feel it is embarrassing for my son and my sister to have to ask my son to assist. Morning (6:45a-8:30a): -Wakes up between 6:45a-8:30a -Put shoes on, give pre breakfast meds, puts on Chap Stick, puts glasses on, open blinds -Turn iPad off and plug into charger -Take her to the bathroom and needs to be wiped. -Watches cartoons and waits 30 minutes before she can eat per Levothyroxine -Eats her choice of oatmeal, cereal. She will sometimes want bacon and eggs -Brushes her teeth at the table using paper bowl to spit and rinses with mouthwash -Takes her after breakfast morning meds -Puts on more Chap Stick -Uses the bathroom and needs to be dressed -Needs to have hair brushed and BRAIDED but MUST use detangler (when her hair is long) -Needs to have bed made and water chamber to BiPAP emptied and left open to dry Mid-Morning to Afternoon (10:30a-12:00p): -Plans activities and outings for the day (appointments, shopping, out to eat, etc) -Does a few home activities such as coloring, playing board games, goes for a walk with assistance, sits outside for fresh air (before it gets too hot in the summer or cold in the winter). -Uses the bathroom before leaving for outings -Takes her 2:00p-3:00p meds -Outings until 4pm Afternoon to Evening (4:00p-10:00p): -Comes home and uses the bathroom -Rests for a bit and maybe eat a snack -Showers at 4:30p and needs full assistance with showering. Needs shower chair to sit in (shower time has changed due to fall) -Gets in PJs unless notified -Hair is brushed and braided -Watches TV or does home activities -Dinner between 7:00p-8:00 About the care needs: I would like someone who is patient, kind, understanding that if my sister is having a bad day and says things out of the ordinary, that they do not take it personal. She has bad days just like we do but due to her intellectual disability (she has the mind set of a 6-11
