About who needs care: I have a broken wrist due to a fall and don't know how long I'll need help bathing. This is complicated by a bad back injury due to the same fall. My brother lives with me, so he can help with daily tasks and drive me around. Unfortunately, he has very limited use of one arm, so there are some things he can't do. Also, I have a cleaning service that comes every other week. A big task that I'd like help with is doing major purging of clothes that no longer fit and packing them to go to a charity. About the care needs: I'd like to work with someone who's at least 40- to 50-years-old, is geared toward being a companion, has a good sense of humor and is light-hearted (I'm playful, like to make light of things, and have fun even while going through this), is empathic (sometimes I get emotional without any obvious provocation and just need hugs), likes to organize and plan, has a good sense for color and design, is educated and articulate, would help me make decisions about the clothes ;-), is able/willing to help me as a personal assistant would - be a sounding board - because I feel overwhelmed by all the decisions and planning for appointments, and coordinating insurance, (I'm very trusting and am willing to be transparent about finances and medical information; that's part of where "companionable" comes in). I guess the short answer is that I need someone to: 1) help reduce how overwhelmed I feel in this situation that has an unknown outcome (my back) and duration feelings around; and 2) help me get my life as normal as possible. Services needed include: bathing.
