About who needs care: Mom loves to read mysteries and romance books. She takes the newspaper everyday to stay current and work the puzzle. She used to like to do crafts now and then but arthritis has pretty much stopped that. Alert and easy going, she needs some companionship. My sister lives with her but they have never gotten along well. She needs movement before she completely loses the ability to walk, has a walker. I'm not sure what an ideal day would be. Maybe start mornings slow, go for a ride to get out of the house or have afternoon coffee and a chat. A good dinner would make her happy too. About the care needs: Age doesn't matter as my mother stays pretty current. Someone who doesn't talk too much but will engage her in conversation. Mom is quiet but interested and has things to say when given the chance. The caregiver needs to be somewhat motivational to help Mom move around and "exercise ". She sits in her chair all day. She does get seasonal depression so someone naturally happy would be awesome. It they liked to read. It would be a plus. I think if the caregiver could fix Mom's hair on occasion she would love that. We are all hopeless at it. The caregiver needs to be able to cook a meal, if that's allowed. My sister cannot according to Mom Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
