About who needs care: She is 78 with underlying medical conditions. She had a heart attack in 2012 and got a pacemaker implanted. This April she had a stroke and lost some of her short term memory. She was in the hospital recently for arrhythmia and had a defibrillator implanted as well. She has no immediate family anymore, so a few church friends have been taking care of her and one has her POA. We have a current caretaker but she is going to have a surgery the week of the 2nd and needs a week of recovery. She plans to return on the 17th. She shuffles when she walks and has a mobile chair that brings her up and down the stairs. The job is to prepare two meal per day, shop at the corner Wal*Mart Neighborhood if necessary, run a load of wash once per week, and keep the place clean. She does not make a mess and only goes between 3-4 rooms generally. She takes medications in the morning and evening (and she is good about taking them). She does not go outside unless she wants to sit by the pool, otherwise she does not leave the house except for doctor's appt. Her stroke has caused her to be impatient and combative at times but at 5'4" and 110 lbs. it is all bark. We need someone who can love her through her idiosyncrasies knowing it is not personal and she is not in her right mind all the time. The 3 hours per day are flexible meaning you can start earlier or go a little past noon if need be as long as we know the schedule. About the care needs: Strong and self confident woman. Previous experience. Good communicator. Qualified to watch an elderly woman with health issues. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
