About who needs care: Daddy is 91 with dementia. Overall he does okay, just needs reminders for baths (occasional assist), brushing teeth, etc. Mom has stroke-like symptoms but no stroke so uses a walker and has fairly frequent falls. Need assist with meals if care is provided during meal-time. Not sure yet on exact days and times, but trying to just get some basic information to see what this looks like! About the care needs: Someone who knows how to use a gait belt and assist with some basic exercises from PT and ST for mom. Someone who can redirect mom when she gets frustrated with daddy because he doesn't hear or understand (he is also partially deaf and legally blind in one eye). Someone who is very kind and is a good conversationalist, even when he/she is the only one talking. (Mom has dysphagia so her voice is really weak and she doesn't talk as much. Of course, daddy has some good moments but his stories don't always make sense due to his dementia.) Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
