About who needs care: My mother has advanced Alzheimers. However, she functions pretty good during the day. I get her up and clean and dress and feed her. I need someone to sit with her in the afternoon in the sunroom where her recliner is, which is where she sits and watches TV all day. I prepare sandwiches for her and her caregiver to have for lunch. I return home before her supper time. The caregiver must accompany her to the bathroom and wipe her (she only urinates in the afternoon) and change her underwear and put on her pants and shoes. About 95% of the time, Mother does not have a bowel movement until late at night when I am home. Mother walks on her own very slowly and a little unsteady and must be accompanied at all times. We have a toilet lift, walker, rollater and wheelchair. Mother is pleasant company and likes to look pretty. She sleeps in her recliner a lot during the day. About the care needs: The caregiver must be a mature, older woman. Someone older, but still strong enough to catch Mother, help her up and help her walk. If the caregiver could give her a manicure and paint her nails, Mother would love that, but that is not a requirement. Mother has no interest in painting or cards or any other hobbies. She likes to watch old movies and snack on candy, cookies and chips during the afternoon.
