About who needs care: Cindy has mild vascular dementia. She had a mild stroke two weeks ago, and just completed 10 days of acute rehab (PT, OT, ST) to help her gain mobility and better use of her right side (she's left-handed so her right is her weaker side). She now is using a walker for balance and uses a wheelchair for longer transport. She is able to reasonably take care of personal hygiene and bathroom needs, however, she has incontinence -- she uses Depends, but she has a tendency to "leak" so we need to put protection pads around on the furniture. Generally, she can dress herself, but sometimes she'll put something on backwards or shoes on the wrong feet, that sort of thing. So, she'll need a little help in that area, like tying shoes, making sure clothes are straight in the back, stuff like that. Cindy is very limited on her ability to prepare meals, and we'd prefer her to not use the kitchen for safety purposes...she's rather notorious for using the wrong tool for the job and has trouble closing *anything*. So, there will be some meal prep involved, and we'll make it as simple as possible. She can feed herself once she's served. She does like to eat and appreciates good food (she was an excellent cook for many years). Food is still a big interest with her, but she just reads recipes and looks at pictures in mags, or watches food show on TV. Cindy has a mature, sharp sense of humor, and she likes to joke and clown around. She like to sing jingles and small songs. Her condition has taken some of it away, but she's still a pretty good conversation. Besides cooking, which she doesn't do too much anymore, she used to craft and scrapbook. She has a lot of materials and the tools, but she has trouble putting things together, now. She could do a small craft with direction, and would probably enjoy it. She likes to do puzzles: jigsaw, crossword, sudoku. She used to play a lot of phone games, but she doesn't do that too much anymore. She likes board games and cards, but may need to be reminded of a rule here and there. She like to watch sports, all types except for maybe golf, bowling, and cricket. And she loves her FoxNews. She likes to go on outings, but needs help packing and dressing appropriately for the occasion. I would think her ideal day would include an outing that would give her motivation to get up, get dressed and ready to go, enjoy the ride and destination and a meal or two along the way, return after an enjoyable day, and hit the sack, maybe after dessert. Her typical day is sleeping in until mid-morning or later, getting up for some coffee and eats, maybe reading a bit or chatting with someone, taking an afternoon nap, getting up to catch FoxNews in the late afternoon, eating dinner, watching more FoxNews or a movie, or a TV series, then hitting the sack by 10:00. She is getting treatment for depression with all the sleeping she does. She uses a CPAP when she's sleeping, and she's been advised to use it for all sleeping periods , including naps. She a quite a few meds and cannot manage them herself. She need supervison on what she takes and to make sure she does taking it. Despite her recent limitations, she's typically a joy to be around and talk to. About the care needs: A cheerful and patient person will do well. Cindy's a kind of "glass half empty" "take it easy" person, but she responds well to upbeat and passionate people. Definitely needs to be a female...Cindy is all girl and has a lot of traditions in her. Cindy needs a lot of encouragement to get going with whatever she's doing, so someone who has those kind of people skills would be preferred. A practicing Christian would have many of the skills that would work well with Cindy. Cindy likes to travel and dream about vacations and going places and seeing things, so someone who likes that will be able to relate. Also, Cindy is a proud Texan and a Southerner, bu
