A compassionate caregiver is needed for a hospice patient with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD). He lives with me and I have been taking care of my dad for 6 months. I will be home 90% of the time. He is mobile but becomes disoriented outside his room and needs gentle bathroom redirection. He has speech but has difficulty communicating. He can indicate hunger or bathroom needs. He is private and spends most of the day watching TV. CJD is terminal and will quickly get worse, so duties will change as the disease progresses. Duties currently include companionship and relieving me, toileting help, and light housekeeping (laundry, dishes, tidying) as needed while he's watching TV. This role provides relief for me, his primary caregiver.
