About who needs care: My husband over the past year has had a bone infection in his foot, treatment with IV antibiotics, seen by wound care, surgery with complications, rehab because he couldn't stand or walk, then able to walk with walker and lift foot about 1 inch, had to be sent to hospital for pneumonia, CHF and pulmonary hypertension in June 2024, weak and couldn't stand or walk, sent to rehab for 2 weeks and while in suffered internal bleeding and almost died and they found huge ulcer which ruptured and did emergency surgery, he had lots of blood infusions and meds and in ICU, step down and then regular room and left very weak and to a rehab facility for 12 weeks and he still can't sit up on own, stand, or walk. I work full time and sometime travel and my 91-year-old dad lives with me (he is on walker). He has lymphodema, neuropathy, atrial fib (has pacemaker). He needs someone to change his clothes, give bath, change depends and clean up, transfer to wheel chair or power recliner. He enjoys TV, social media, talking with my dad while they watch TV, etc. He is a retired paramedic fire chief / captain. We love our church and Sunday School class and have good friends and supportive family. My son and daughter live nearby and they both work as do their spouses and we have grandchildren 4, 7, 10 and 13. His sister who is 77 lives nearby. About the care needs: We are very upbeat, like to laugh, and we are hoping those leg muscles start waking up but statistics are against us. If he has to go for a doctor or specialist, we will need to call an ambulance. We have a dog (25 pounds who is deaf and very loveable) and a cat. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
