About who needs care: My uncle Larry has Parkinsons and is in a wheel chair. My aunt Wilma cares for him but needs help at least 3 days per week for 3 hours per day. Getting him up, transferring him, and bathing him is challenging for her, as shes legally blind and is very small herself. She needs help with light housekeeping, laundry, light cooking (eggs, breakfast). They have a dog whos a real comfort to them that lives inside. Sometimes help may be needed getting to a doctors appointment. About the care needs: Aunt Wilma and Uncle Larry would benefit from someone whos assertive and would make helpful suggestions about care. Theyre both very sweet and never want to ask for too much. Uncle Larry is experiencing some dementia, and Aunt Wilma is legally blind and is completely responsible for his care. Its important that his caretaker is able to transfer him and bathe him. Incontinence is an issue. Our caretaker should be comfortable with pets. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
