About who needs care: The patient had to have a heart pump placed in him for support while he had a severe case of the flu paired with his weak heart. Going up through his leg to place and remove the pump caused plaque in his femoral artery to clog the blood flow to his right leg. Surgery was later needed to re-establish circulation. A second leg surgery was needed to removed dead muscle tissue from his right calf. They left the wound open and he has a wound pump keeping the fluid in the wound from building up. He needs help using the bathroom, bathing, and being turned in bed often to avoid beds sores. He has spent three weeks in the hospital and is very weak. His recovery is expected and this will be temporary, but I don't envision less than two weeks but not more than a month. About the care needs: He will be in a low energy mode and will prefer a quiet care keeper who comes to his room when he signals for help. He has a well kept house and the caregiver will be in comfortable accommodations. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
