About who needs care: Lucy has Parkinson's Disease (PD) but does not have tremors. She likes to sit near window and loves Nature shows and PBS shows She is able to walk 20 steps using her walker to toilet but requires hands on assistance. Lucy does not mind wearing a Gait Belt for safety. With her PD, Lucy gets frustrated and does not like to be told the same thing over and over like, "Take another step, take another step" If you tell Lucy to take a step she will hear but with her PD it takes her brain longer to process movement so patience is key when walking short distance to toilet and back to chair or bed. Lucy's PD does cause her to use foul language on occasion so caregiver must have thick skin and not take offense if Lucy says shut up or go to hell because when she gets frustrated because she's told the same thing over and over, like "take another step" give her time before repeating what task you want her to do. Lucy is not incontinent and will let you know when she needs to toilet and wears disposable underwear (with a pad just in case) and usually does not need to be taken to toilet but every 3-4 hours. She uses external catheter (PureWick System) at night so once in bed she sleeps through night and does not have to get up until morning Schedule (approximately): 9-10:30 begin to get out of bed, walk to toilet before breakfast, dress on toilet, walk to dining table to eat breakfast (mostly fresh fruit, cereal with banana and milk, yogurt) 11-1 Sitting in Lift Chair/wheelchair watch tv /resting 1-2 Lunch (open-face sandwich egg salad or pimento cheese, fruit, cottage cheese or yogurt 3-5 Help to bed to rest/watch tv 5-7 Dinner (very lite snack like high protein yogurt or egg custard and fresh fruit, or mashed sweet potato) 7-8 Help to toilet to get dressed in night gown, brush teeth Snacks she likes- enjoys dark chocolate and cheese straws Drinks she likes- grape G2 Gatorade, cranberry, Coca Cola, Orange Juice, Coffee w/ Breakfast Lucy does not have Diabetes.
