About who needs care: I am doing the leg work to find help for my 43-year-old, nurse practitioner daughter who is gravely ill after developing transverse myelitis. She has a palliative care doctor in Charleston and is followed by a neurologist in Charleston I am a clinical social worker in California and I'm still working, otherwise, I'd be in Beaufort right now. Allison visited the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn after being hospitalized in CA with an acute onset of this MS type disorder. Allison, her husband and their 5-year-old daughter need help with some routine household tasks, some errand running, and perhaps cooking. Allison is medically sophisticated, totally cognitively intact, but is weak, taking lots meds that slow her down, and she needs to do less physically demanding things so she can spend her limited energy on her daughter. Thank you very much. Deborah Raphael About the care needs: Someone who is quiet, can take direction from a patient who feels like she has no control in her own life. (She can't work, she can't pick up her own kid, her energy runs out by 6:30 pm) A person who has raised a family but is very open minded about how things are done in another family would be wonderful. There are two dogs in the family. Allison's husband is a professional working long hours and this family needs a magical person who can cook recipes that they give her. Allison is scared and depressed and she resists asking for help. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
