About who needs care: My grandfather does have alzheimer's and sundowns around 4 p.m. However, during the day he loves to socialize but doesn't have opportunity too and unfortunately sleeps most of the day. He loves bird watching, he was an engineer for the Navy so loves tinkering and figuring out how things work. He used to go to painting classes and still holds an interest in drawing and art but his eye sight isn't great so he doesn't have much motivation anymore. Right now he showers once a week at maximum because he's more comfortable with showering when someone is home. I'd like to increase his hygiene. He makes himself breakfast but doesn't remember to eat or drink again until my brother gives him dinner even then he doesn't eat it all.. he prefers company when he eats and my brother has autism and is not interested in socializing. He loves car rides and just talking. I take him to appointments when I can but otherwise he used non emergency medical service which can be unreliable and it would benefit him to have a companion go in with him. About the care needs: A patient and understanding caregiver. Once he is comfortable with someone I'd like to see if he would let the care giver assist with his showers and dressing... he's stubborn and is struggling with losing independence. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
