About who needs care: 3 small strokes & throat cancer survivor, causing a host of issues, such as speech impediments, difficulty swallowing certain foods like rice. Cannot reach anything above counter level as he can't raise his right arm above his waist/shoulder. Limited dexterity in fingers and a drop foot on the right side with leg weakness. Significant back pain from old injury and back surgery. Needs to use a walker. Has a ton of dizzy spells from the BP meds to prevent another stroke. Really should no longer live alone but he's 80 years old and was grumpy enough that we moved him to a first floor living patio home. He's absolutely refusing to go to assisted living. Will not eat if no one is there to prepare his food. About the care needs: Someone who can deal with an Archie Bunker personality. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
