About who needs care: Hello! My dad is currently in the hospital but expects to be returning home at some point. He is a diabetic who is in the hospital for a bad leg / foot infection and will need significant mobility help for a currently unknown amount of time. The care would include meal prep, mobility help with getting around the house and to the bathroom, bringing groceries in from delivery and transportation to appointments as needed. He also would require dispensing of morning and evening medication. Our dad structures his day mainly in our living room - he has been sleeping there lately, but ideally would love to get back into his bed - He just cant get out of his bed with his legs currently. There are several unknowns based on upcoming procedures, but he would need significant help at his house for daily tasks. He can go to the bathroom on his own, but may need help getting in and out of the room. He used a cane for some time and now uses a walker, but moves very slowly. His wife (my mom) passed away three years ago, and it remains a major source of conversation, memory and grief for him. His mind is very sharp, but you do have to talk slowly and somewhat loudly for him to hear. I am sure there is more, but that gives a decent summary. Thanks! About the care needs: I think someone who listen to stories, watch TV, prepare food (typically not much variety) and has patience to communicate. Someone who also can help with his mobility and have compassion for his needs. The person should also be willing to talk about my mom (his wife) who was the center of his life before she passed away. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
