About who needs care: Father is 75 years old and recently endured a fall in December that caused a traumatic brain injury. He is mostly bed bound currently and needs assistance being changed, bathed, and observed closely as he is a fall risk. He is receiving nutrition through a feeding tube. He was born in Puerto Rico and loves novelas (spanish soap operas), along with Law and Order: SVU and any action/mystery based movies and shows. He was a mechanic most of his life and collected coins on the side. Although life has changed drastically an ideal day may look like having spanish music playing in the background or novelas. Being turned and changed periodically, alongside other basic needs met. Having a lightweight blanket, unless it's cold. And although sleeping, some conversation from time to time. About the care needs: An ideal caregiver for my father is patient, flexible, understanding and keeps family informed. Although my father primarily knows spanish, he knows some english also and would appreciate someone who informs him when they are moving/changing him, as well as just checking in with his well-being. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
