About who needs care: Looking for companionship for my father who has dementia. Would be prn status. He is continent, ambulates, can do all ADLs except put his own socks on (arthritis) with cue-ing. He has short term memory loss but can be reoriented easily. Not aggressive or violent, does not wander. He does better around other people, loves to laugh and feel like he is helping. Underlying depression has interfered with ADL independence. Great appetite and can feed himself, would just need assistance with meal prep. About the care needs: Looking for someone who is kind, patient and lighthearted but stern when needed. For example, instead of asking him if he is hungry, it is more effective to put a plate of food in front of him and say time to sit down and eat : ) No specialized skills required just compassion for helping others. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
