About who needs care: My mother-in-law Amanda is in her late 60s and has stage 4 colon cancer. She is in hospice care and receives nursing and assistance from hospice, but we need additional help with caregiving as well. My husband and I both work full time so we cannot be with her all the time and she is only comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. Amanda is still fairly independent, and is able to transfer out of her hospital bed, use the bathroom independently, and walk short distances. She mostly needs companionship and assistance with light housekeeping and cooking (really just microwaving existing meals that my husband and I have prepared). About the care needs: Amanda is a former Montessori teacher and yoga teacher and has a bit of a "hippie" energy, so she'd do well with folks who have similar experiences or viewpoints. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
