About who needs care: Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, is a Quadriplegic, and has the following medical devices: Tracheostomy, Feeding tube, and Super Pubic Catheter. About the care needs: The caregiver for my husband should be trained in respiratory therapy and have experience with specialized medical equipment. He requires a tracheostomy tube, and the caregiver must be familiar with the Trilogy machine, which he wears through his trach port at night for sleep, similar to a CPAP machine. The caregiver should understand the settings on the Trilogy machine and know what each one means for proper operation. Additionally, they will need to periodically drain the suprapubic catheter bag and administer free water through his J-tube port as needed. The caregiver will also be expected to provide overnight care, staying with him for about 8 hours each night. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
