About who needs care: My Mom is 83. Her cognitive abilities have declined. She has been in and out of the hospital and rehab facilities since the middle of February. It started with flu, pneumonia and CHF. Didnt get bette, went back, the to a rehab, then back to hospital for a GI bleed. Then to another rehab for about 3weeks. Then to my home for not quite 2days. Back in the hospital for CHF. Back to a different rehab and my Dad signed her out AMA. They are in their home but cannot do much. My Dad is 90 but his mind is sharp. He walks with a walker. My Mom should but mostly refuses. Right now she is so swollen in her feet, legs and lower stomach. She is not steady on her feet and gets winded and wheezing just walking to the bathroom. She has been missing meds and taking them at the wrong time if she does take them. Im not available to be there constantly. We need help with house keeping and possibly making sure she takes her meds when you are there. About the care needs: Very patient, compassionate and reliable. My Dad is hard of hearing so a loud voice will be needed to communicate with him. My Mom will probably need help washing her hair sometimes. She does it over the sink. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
