About who needs care: My parents recently moved into Paramount Senior Living in Maytown. Neither of them are able to drive safely. My dad had a fall in early October that caused a head injury and he is not entirely stable (he does get around with a walker). My Mom has some cognitive issues. They have no family in the area, so they are feeling somewhat "trapped" in their new home. I am looking for a caregiver that can basically take them to a restaurant in the area or to the store if they want to buy odds and ends at least a couple of days per week. About the care needs: The caregiver should have the ability to assist both of my parents with getting into and out of the car, and also monitor them while they are on their feet. The caregiver should have a vehicle that is easy to access for seniors and clean and comfortable (they are good with SUVs/minivans/crossovers, sedans that are lower to the ground may be more challenging, but should be OK). They do not require companionship as much as transportation and ensuring that they can safely get into the business they are going into. There are three restaurants in particular that they like to go to regularly - those are a Cafe, and there is an Asian Fusion restaurant. They also like to go to - on occasion. Lastly, their old home is not yet sold and I would ask any caregiver to refuse to take them there if they ask (as that might cause problems with them returning to their Assisted Living facility, or they may want to fetch items that they are not allowed to have there). Services needed include: transportation.
