About who needs care: Lung cancer (managed With immunotherapy) Diabetes (managed with Dexcom monitor) Type 1 Currently in rehab for breaking hip bc of a fall. Puzzles, reading, HGTV, being outside to watch birds, driving her car (prior to fall) Up at 8:30/9, breakfast, to do list for day, prep meals, out on patio to enjoy weather, nap, read, dinner, puzzle/HGTV, bed (see their daughters on an ideal day, which is usually 2-4x week) About the care needs: Someone who is attentive to her safety but allows her her independence. Mom likes to do things herself and is not a lazy person, but her injury and lack of strength currently hinders her. She isn't great with someone who is super chatty and high strung. Prefers a relaxed but not lazy personality. Mutual respect. Awareness of how to handle sugar levels in case her numbers get low. Dexcom monitor helps with managing that but knowledge would be helpful. Someone who can be autonomous, have their own things they can occupy their time with and still be there to check in on her. Depending on her success with PT, she may not need long term in-home help, but initially yes. As she progresses, may only need a morning check in to get her started on the day. Time will tell. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
