About who needs care: My dad has late-stage Parkinsons disease. He requires 24/7 supervision, as his mobility has significantly declined. He requires the use of a specialized walker, and even still often freezes and/or gets confused as to how to walk. He also has Parkinsons dementia, and is sometimes not aware of his surroundings. He sometimes has hallucinations that cause him to see friends/family members that are not present. He gets occupational therapy and physical therapy twice a week in the home. He does not leave the house often, except for doctors appointments. On good days he can dress and feed himself. On off days he requires help. He requires assistance getting into and out of the bathroom, and help with wiping. My mom is his full time caregiver, but needs a break every now and then. He has been getting less sleep lately, often waking in the middle of the night and not falling back to sleep, so this obviously takes a toll on her. About the care needs: Someone who is patient and has a good bedside manner. My dad speaks quietly and sometimes doesn't make sense. His movements are slow and his body often freezes from the Parkinsons. He struggles to comprehend things and lacks focus. Someone who has experience with Parkinsons (especially later stages) would be extremely helpful. Experience with dementia would also be great. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
