About who needs care: My Hubby, Bill, a retired X-ray technician, is alert, oriented x3, intelligent, humble, very pleasant, non-complaining, easy to talk to and very agreeable. He has end-stage lung disease, uses O2 24/7, cannot eat or drink at all, is dependent on tube feedings which he controls... from 630A--630P. He gives his own meds via feed tube, and does his own vital signs 2x a day and as needed. He helps with his shower. He shaves and dresses himself. Bill has chronic neck and low back pain.... uses walker to use bathroom, sits on walker seat at sink for mouth care. He holds onto Tube feeding pole to walk into office beside bedroom, to work on computer. He needs someone to make sure he doesn't fall when up walking with walker or tube feed pole. About the care needs: Someone not too talkative, or too old. He prefers reading his kindle while in bed. Can talk to him, but his voice is damaged from radiation to his throat for throat cancer, which also damaged his voice box and his swallowing mechanism)(can't eat or drink)... so short talks preferred. He needs hot water from sink for his meds 4x a day. He needs warm water and mouth wash for mouth care, in bed. His urinal needs to be emptied after used. His bed/ table area need to be kept clean. O2 concentrator is simple.... will show sitter only how to raise O2 liters... all that might be needed, in case Bill gets too short of breath. Will need sitter to do errands, or shopping for us., and light housework.... vacuuming, keep counters and sink clean, unload dishwasher, fold up laundry, take garbage and recycle out to garage. If Bill has trouble breathing, sitter is to call 911. Will go over all with her. Can pay up to $22/ hr Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
