About who needs care: Come back to your grandparents' home again in Belleville. My beautiful sweet 81 mother-in-law unfortunately inherited dementia and experiencing bouts of confusion with sundowners in the evenings. Her frustrations are nonviolent and filled with tears, but if you throw a big ball with her in the living room or read her daily devotions, it quickly takes her mind briefly off her troubles. She is still able to ambulate due to her family coming in regularly to cheer her on, but with assistance, always using a walker due to breaking each hip in 2019 and 2021. Come meet my father-in-law who is senile in the most comical energetic way with all his trust in Jesus Christ. He is a retired truck driver owner/operator, with the business still being operated out of their home. He can do all his ADLS, but cannot remember what he ate for dinner or to test my MIL's diabetes in the morning or that people stopped by to drop off food, or the food in the refrigerator and how to cook it. Poor Poppy is having trouble getting Nana to the bathroom and at bedtime. Their "boys" are taking turns doing the evening shift, but are all entrepreneurs and do not have the flexibility of taking time off and working late into the evenings, although we've managed to work together and pull it off so far with 9-1 caregivers, but the agency we are using cannot send us enough aides. We are need from 2:00-8:30, but realistically to keep her home, will need someone to stay the night. We will entertain any aide help for any hours to keep our Nana and Poppy out of Valley View Haven. About the care needs: A female willing to read daily devotions and scripture, strong enough to toilet and put Nana to bed, patient enough to deal with sundowners and all that comes with it, and reheat/prepare meals specific to diabetics. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
