About who needs care: She has dementia. I'm currently looking for some help with meal prep and housekeeping. Once she becomes more comfortable with a caregiver, I think I would like to add some companionship time (so my dad can have some respite). However, I don't think she would be open to that right away. About the care needs: Ideally, a caregiver would be an outgoing female with a soft, gentle, and encouraging personality. If they understood dementia and had some experience dealing with its special challenges, that would be great. My mom has abandoned many of her previous hobbies. Her current highlights are spending time with her great-grandchildren and trying to remember how to knit. She also enjoys going for walks. She used to enjoy all types of card games and word puzzles, yoga and pilates. She has given up most of these because she is embarrassed (and frustrated) to not remember how to do them. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
