My family and I realize that I need help with my basic needs. The dementia like symptoms from my brain injury are better but when the medication wears off (so I can sleep) I just can't make sure that my teenage daughter (who is amazing and talented and helpful) brushes her teeth and goes to bed. Too often, I don't properly clean myself -- I'm incontinent, forget words, names, tasks and just get loopy after dark. Caring for me is like dealing with adult toddler. My mom is my co-parent and she is supportive and exhausted and available. Think of this job as putting her kids to bed a couple times a week so she can have the night off. We're somewhat flexible about days--could be Sundays but we focused on help for a bedtime routine.
